Our team

Christina Eirini Karvouna is the head and founder of the Rotterdam branch of the HICD in the Netherlands. Ms. Karvouna was born and raised in Corinth.

 

She studied at the American College of Greece (Deree) and at the University of West Attica where she obtained her degree as a Shipbuilding Engineer. At the same time, she attended professional study programs in business organization and logistics and logistics at the Kapodistrian University of Athens, with an emphasis mainly on the Shipping sector. After her studies, she worked as a consultant for international companies and European financing programs.

 

Today she is a business owner based in Greece and the Netherlands focusing on productive business consulting as well as the development and implementation of European financing programs. An enthusiastic lover of classical ballet, where she holds a degree in certification from the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) in London.

Sofia Georgiadi is the General Secretary of the branch of the Hellenic Institute of Cultural Diplomacy in the Netherlands.

 

Mrs. Georgiadi was born and raised in Corinth. She studied at the Law School of the University of Athens where she was awarded a law degree. She continued her postgraduate studies at the University of Bristol in United Kingdom, where she was awarded a master's degree in Commercial Law and Intellectual Property Law.

 

After concluding her studies in 2012, she worked as an associate lawyer in Athens Law Firms and as a Legal Advisor in a legal department of a Fintech company. At the same time, she has attended workshops and conferences of legal interest on Intellectual Property . Her articles on entrepreneurship and intellectual property rights have been featured in many online publications and websites. She participated as a Speaker in the 1st Trademark Conference (ESIMET), for the fight against counterfeiting in Greece and in the 2nd ESIMET Conference on "The Protection of Intellectual and Industrial Property on the Internet - E-Commerce: The Challenge".

 

She specializes Commercial, Corporate Law and Intellectual Property Law, offering legal support to start-ups in Greece and abroad. Since 2019 she manages a law office in Myrina of Lemnos, where she works for the promotion abroad of local small and medium enterprises and agricultural products with special interest and love for local cultural elements and products.  At the same time, she is a visiting lecturer at the Public Vocational School of Lemnos in courses of legal protection of cultural heritage.

A scientific non-governmental organization, founded in 2020 in Rotterdam, which General Committee is formed by local development stakeholders and specialists from various sectors of the civil society and European Member States: academics, NGOs, development agents, association managers, civil servants and social economy companies, as well as European organizations for local development.

 

By engaging in research and developing the different fields of Cultural Diplomacy, the HICD NL aims to build bridges of trust and cooperation and foster dialogue between different cultures. This contributes to strengthen regional and multilateral diplomatic bonds, improves relations between nations and communicates universal values and principles that only culture can convey.
